
Hello, I’m Alison and thank you for dropping by.
I hope this website will give you a flavour of what I am like and how I work: It’s important to find a counsellor you feel comfortable with and who uses approaches that resonate with you.
I offer a bespoke approach rooted in person-centred values and drawing from a wide range of other psychotherapies. We will work collaboratively and transparently to find the best approach for you. I always root my work in good evidence or sound theory, but the human condition takes us beyond the easily measurable, so safe creativity and exploration are a big part of my practice too.
Evidence shows the single most important factor is a good therapeutic relationship. You will find in me a warm, friendly and accepting presence. I consider it a great honour to be invited to share in this very human experience.
I can work with most wellbeing and mental health issues, whether everyday life struggles or a mental diagnosis. This is because the variety of symptoms we see on the surface often have similar root causes and this is what we will target. I will help you to join up the dots in a way that helps you to move forward along your own unique path. I am honest about the limits to what I can do and will refer on if appropriate.
I am particularly interested in the mind-brain-body connection. Specifically, I have additional training in Brainspotting and NeurOptimal® Neurofeedback. These can be offered as part of a counselling journey or on their own.
